Fun Catering Ideas For Your Next Party

Food & Cooking Blog

When planning a party, no doubt you give attention to every single detail, right down to the catering and food to be served. However, you probably have more options today for meals provided by your caterer than ever before, and choosing something fun and unique will make your party truly memorable and even something your guests might enjoy more than ever. Note a few fun catering ideas for your next party and then discuss these possibilities with your caterer.

Picnic lunch

Consider having a picnic lunch theme for your party. Use red and white checkered tablecloths and serve fried chicken, finger sandwiches, potato salad, coleslaw, deviled eggs, and other cold foods. Dessert might be watermelon or fruit salad. Use actual picnic baskets as decoration. This is a great choice for a casual party and especially one held during the summertime.

Candy or ice cream sundae buffet

A candy buffet means a table spread with large open jars that are filled with bulk candies, such as M&M's, Skittles, peanut butter cups, and the like. Bowls are set out and guests use scoops to scoop some candy into the bowl for a fun dessert. You can serve any variety of candies you like, including those that are pre-wrapped, and the open jars can be wrapped with decorative ribbon that matches your party's theme.

An ice cream sundae buffet is similar; you can set out large tubs of ice cream or rent a soft serve ice cream machine, and then also provide jars or bowls of ice cream toppings. Guests help themselves and make their own sundae. This too is a great choice for a casual party and especially for summer events.

Appetizer bar

For an informal affair or one that is scheduled after normal dinner hours, you might opt for an appetizer bar or buffet. This would include a selection of light finger foods rather than a full dinner; opt for chicken wings, finger sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, and even nacho chips and hot melted cheese for something very informal.

Vegetarian

If you're a vegetarian or even if you just want to reduce meat consumption or cut costs for your catering, consider a vegetarian menu. This might include stuffed peppers or mushrooms as your main course, and a selection of rice, steamed vegetables, or baked potatoes as side dishes. You can also opt for a pasta dish made without just a tomato sauce for the main dish, along with thick slices of garlic bread. This is very filling without any meat on the menu.

Bacon and eggs for breakfast

I have been trying to lose weight for decades and I hadn't much luck until I switched to a high fat, high protein diet. It means I can finally have bacon and eggs for breakfast and lose weight. I have been loving this diet and the freedom it gives me to eat some of my favourite foods. In order to switch to this style of eating I did need to find a lot of new recipes including high fat and protein snack options. This blog has some of my favourite recipes from a high protein, high fat diet and should be useful for anyone looking to reduce their carb intake.
