Considerations When Ordering Your Wedding Cake

Blog

One of the most significant features of your wedding is the cake. Not only does the cake act as a culmination of the entire event, but it also functions as a centrepiece throughout the festivities. As such, most people will like grand designs that will stand out and make a memorable impression. However, a mistake some people make is simply giving the cake shop pictures and hope they get a replica cake. In reality, there are a number of things to bear in mind to ensure your cake would be individualised to your wedding. So what are some of the considerations when placing an order for your wedding cake?

Consider the size of the cake

The size of your cake is important for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the size of your cake would determine whether it would be adequate for your guests. As such, the longer your guest list, the bigger the cake will be. Nevertheless, you also have the option of making a separate cake for your guests that can be packaged in individual pieces and use the main cake as a decorative element at the venue.

Secondly, the size of your cake should be proportional to the venue size. For instance, if you are having a small wedding in a small venue, numerous tiers of wedding cake may detract from the wedding party. On the other hand, a small cake at a large wedding venue can easily become overlooked. Overall, consult with your cake maker about the number of guests and your venue before coming up with an appropriate size.

Consider the finish of your cake

It is not uncommon to find an engaged couple giving their cake maker creative discretion when it comes to decorating their wedding cake. As such, all the couple does is go for cake tasting to ensure the flavour is right and then leave it up to the decorator to wow them on their wedding day. However, if you do not have a say on what finish you would like on your cake, you could end up being highly disappointed. There are two main ways your cake maker can finish your cake.

The first way is by using fondant, which is a hard substance that gives the cake a perfect finish. Fondant is great for aesthetics, but some people may not like how it tastes. The second option would be using buttercream, which would give your cake a soft and natural finish. However, buttercream can melt if you are holding your wedding outdoors in the heat.

Bacon and eggs for breakfast

I have been trying to lose weight for decades and I hadn't much luck until I switched to a high fat, high protein diet. It means I can finally have bacon and eggs for breakfast and lose weight. I have been loving this diet and the freedom it gives me to eat some of my favourite foods. In order to switch to this style of eating I did need to find a lot of new recipes including high fat and protein snack options. This blog has some of my favourite recipes from a high protein, high fat diet and should be useful for anyone looking to reduce their carb intake.
